Most animals that are poisonous or venomous, such as snakes, spiders and scorpions, tend to send shivers down our spines. But there are some more unlikely entries into the exclusive list that certainly do not look as bad as their bite so-to-say! Here is a list of the 12 most poisonous or venomous creatures on this planet.
The Puffer fish certainly does not look like a vicious creature that could kill you swiftly, it does deserve its place in the top 12 here. The fish does not inflict its venom through biting, like most of the other creatures in this list. But the poison lies in some of its organs, and as the puffer fish is a delicacy in Japan and Korea, this is where most of the death occur.
In Japan, the Puffer fish is called Fugu. The restaurant preparation of Fugu is strictly controlled by law in Japan and several other countries, and only chefs who have qualified after three or more years of rigorous training are allowed to prepare the fish. Most of the deaths occur from domestic preparation. Death usually takes 4-24 hours after being ingested, and the death is not very pleasant at all.
Anyone that has ingested poisonous parts of the Fugu will experience deadening of the tongue and lips, dizziness, vomiting, rapid heart rate, difficulty breathing, and muscle paralysis. The diaphragm muscles are paralysed and the victim will die of suffocation.
Fact: Fugu poison is 1200 times stronger than cyanide
